The Mercedes-Benz CLA-class, in my opinion, has extremely awkward proportions in person. The hood is too long, the wheels are too small, the greenhouse is a little too tall and too far back. It is not an attractive car.
That being said, I saw a CLA45 AMG in white recently, and it was mostly the sex.

Pretty much the same, the AMG treatment brightens it up but the lower spec one has too much of the melted look mercedes are fond of right now.

The A-Class aka CLA hatchback has even weirder proportions

The CLA looks terrible, AMG or not. The GLA is amazing, especially as an AMG, especially with the wing, and especially with that green paint.

Completely agree. Also the B-pillars are too far forward so if you’re taller than 5'5" when you turn your head left all you see is the B. Rear headroom is laughably terrible and I hit my head almost every time getting in and out if the back seats.

Totes agree, a coworker has one. It’s ugly and looks like a budget Benz. Ya can’t be both of those things.

the base CLA looks terrible, with the halogens and nasty wheels. ive always avoided the CLA as I knew it was mostly for people who just want a Mercedes badge. that said, the car does look pretty nice to me, but now that I take note of the side proportions, it does seem pretty weird and ugly

I cannot get over how FWD it looks, that high hood, and big overhang says Honda a lot louder than it says Mercedes. (I know it is in fact FWD)

Is that really the side view of a CLA? Yikes.
Me thinks I’d take me ‘tirty grand and rock a W211 E63 instead.

GLA > CLA

The old design was bad, and looked droopy on both ends. It looks like they tried to fix that, but it’s still ugly and now the rear deck is just too short. This car doesn’t seem to fit the brand in any way, IMHO.

I rather like the new C-class coupe but the more I look at it the more I feel like the beltline is too high and the windows are too small.

I think the hood is too short compared to the sides of the car. Frankly, the side of the car is too tall throughout to be good looking.
It basically looks like a traverse mounted four cylinder car. The Audi A3, Lincoln Continental (Lincoln’s entire lineup actually), and Cadillac XTS suffer from the same problem.
Unless you mount the engine ahead of the front axle or otherwise find a way to lower the engine relative to the body, it seems like nobody can figure out how to make a traverse 4 cylinder smallish luxury look good.

high beltlines and small windows are every car that’s not pretending to be a truck these days.
